Milan Kundera : Encounter

I haven't read it yet, but based on this article, it looks very promising:

Of course, I'm a big fan both of Xenakis and Janáček...

Cheers,
Jim

I've read a few Kundera books and every time I can barely finish it. He is a brilliant writer and I absolutely acknowledge his brilliance, yet his world view is so fucked up and pessimistic that I can barely stand to read his work. Maybe his later stuff is lighter, but the Joke for instance is like 200 pages of the most awful human beings you can imagine all living in the same story. Ugh.

He fled the regime here, but there was some suspicion (quite substantiated) that he narked on a few other dissidents who were executed in the 60s. He's very Czech, but actually is not loved here too much haha.

This book looks quite different though, perhaps I should give him a third go :)
